Centrally based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, 15 mins’ drive from Matlock Record Office, well-placed for research in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Yorkshire, and anywhere within two hours’ travel distance – that includes London and many other counties.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• 8 years’ experience researching family trees and associated local history – includes writing up Storybooks and Family Bulletins and creating both detailed and Quick Trees
• 12 years’ experience prior to this as a full-time freelancer (helping charities and voluntary groups with fundraising and development)
• BA in English Literature and MA in Librarianship
• recent experience indexing original documents in the archive of Chesterfield Local Studies
• specialist interest in the migration of Scottish chapmen and lace merchants in 17th & 18th centuries from Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland to north Bucks.

COST
Research work costs are calculated by the hour or day. From 1 January 2010, the basic rate will be £18/hour but until then I am offering a special discount rate of £15/hour so grab the bargain now!

Quick Trees provided for a normal fee of £200 per family line, available until 1 January at the discount rate of £150.

To get a free quote, contact me. We will discuss your interests and targets and I will give you a free written estimate of the time and costs involved. There is a minimum charge of 1 hour’s fee, payable in advance for new customers. Once we know each other I will invoice at end of the work or in agreed stages.

EXPENSES
Any expenses will be reclaimed at cost, after we have agreed the rates and a budget so this is completely under your control. Normal expenses include travel (public transport charges or car travel, usually at 20p/mile) and photocopying or photography charges. Longer trips or projects may involve costs such as meals and accommodation.

PAYMENT
Easiest method is via my Paypal account. I can advise you on setting one up if you don’t already have one (it’s easy). I will also accept sterling cheques made payable to ‘Morganhold Services’.
